Update – 23 January

Mid Sussex District Council Cabinet has agreed to consider the future of Clair Hall at its meeting on 2 February 2026, following two parallel processes:

  • The council triggered an Asset of Community Value process in mid-2025, giving community groups the opportunity to express an interest in the site.

  • At the same time, the site was marketed to find a potential cultural partner to deliver a new cultural offer.

In response, the council received:

  • An expression of interest from Haywards Heath Community Community Interest Company (HHC CIC), which was considered first by councillors.

  • A proposal from a potential cultural partner, which would be considered by Cabinet in the event the community bid was not accepted.
