Project update - early June

We’re pleased to share that good progress has been made at Hemsleys Meadow over the past month, and the shape of the new space is now really starting to come through.

Work to create the site’s new sustainable drainage features is also well underway. These areas will help rainwater soak into the ground naturally, and one part of the meadow basins will hold water for longer to create a new wetland habitat for nature.

The new paths have been set out and installed, and the final top surface will be added once the main groundworks are finished so it is protected during the rest of the build.

Play equipment has also been installed, including the slide from the top of the play mound, so residents will now be able to see more of the space taking shape.

We are aiming to open the meadow in time for the school summer holidays. This will depend on the weather, as we need to make sure the new grass is well established before the space opens for everyone to enjoy.

The new trees will be planted in the autumn, which is the best time of year to help them settle in and thrive.

Thank you to nearby residents and the local community for your continued patience while this work continues.
