Project update - late June 2026

Work is continuing at Hemsleys Meadow, with good progress being made despite a mix of wet weather followed by recent hot conditions.
The new drainage features are now beginning to work as intended. One of the basins has been lined so it can hold water for much of the year, helping to create a wetland habitat for wildlife. After recent rainfall, water has collected in this area and is draining naturally into the surrounding ground.
The play mound is also taking shape, with scramble boulders and access steps now being installed. A new fence has also been added along the meadow edge in front of homes on The Hemsleys and The Squires.
Once construction is complete, the play area will need to be independently inspected by RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) to make sure it meets all relevant safety standards before opening. There is currently high demand for inspections, so we are not yet able to confirm exactly when this will take place. We will complete any final safety works identified following the inspection.
Subject to the inspection, any final safety works and the new grass becoming well established, we are currently aiming to open the meadow between late July and early August.
Thank you to nearby residents and the local community for your continued patience while these final stages are completed.
