Haywards Heath Cricket Club
Haywards Heath Cricket Club has been a constant presence on the wider site, the "Recreation Ground" and Pavilion, since the late 19th Century.
The Club currently provides community activity for over 250 local children and over 60 senior members together with wider friends and family. The membership is diverse and includes a junior girls section. The 1st XI is a member of the Sussex League Premier Division (one of the top 10 teams in the County) and is one of 5 senior teams and 11 junior teams that represent the town.
Continued access to the Recreation Ground together with parking provision is absolutely fundamental to the Club's existence and continued success. Without parking provision there would be no ability to host club events from junior training sessions to Premier League fixtures and the club would cease to exist.
Saturday matches and junior training nights, with bar and BBQ, are a real community hub and on nights in recent years I have stood amazed at the sight of masses of children on any one evening having a fantastic time at training with parents and friends enjoying a drink and catch-up on the grass banks.
The sun sets behind Clair Hall and so any replacement with a taller structure would also significantly affect the amount of light reaching the ground in the evenings, when the majority of junior matches and junior and senior training sessions take place.
