Vital Community Facility for the Haywards Heath area

I have been a resident of the area for the last 15years and have used Clair Hall on numerous occasions. Belonging to both the local U3A and the National Trust Groups, we have used the Hall regularly for a variety of meetings and the different size rooms have been ideal for different types of meetings. Both of these groups need a large hall for meetings for all members and Clair Hall has been perfect with its large car park and its location on bus routes and near the railway station.

I have also enjoyed attending films, the annual pantomime, and other entertainments there and am aware of a number of functions held on Saturdays for people across Sussex as it is convenient for people living in either West or East Sussex. Different sections of the Health Service have used it for a variety of events and I am aware of a number of activities for children held here because of its central convenient position.

A growing town the size of Haywards Heath desperately needs a large community type centre and with the local population expanding rapidly surely there is a great need for a good multipurpose facility to provide activities for all different age groups. Please do not do what has happened in Burgess Hall demolish the buildings before a decision is made about its future! With community activities developing again following the pandemic, there is going to be a great need for a community facility in the near future so perhaps refurbishment should be considered rather than a new building which is bound to take several years!
