My time with scouts....
I am a leader with the 10th HH scouts group. This is something I am amazingly proud of, those words don't do this justice. I am HUGELY, FANTASTICALLY, BRILLIANTLY, MASSIVLY proud to be a scout leader. I say this by having MY own children move through the scouting journey and seeing its profound effect on them. My children have benefited hugely from their experience with scouting, they walk a little taller, they have deeper reserves to deal with the challenges life throws at them. I hope that many of the other young people that we have the pleasure of spending time with on our scouting journey find similar value from their scouting experiences. Being a leader in 10th HH is one of my proudest achievements directly because of the value I think that scouts offer to our young people,
Our group started sharing (well really borrowing) a hut in Cuckfield but we soon outgrew that space. When I first joined, we were a group of a dozen or so young people but have now grown to a group that has 2 evening sessions a week, with over 60 young people in attendance. We started with a couple of leaders but now have nearly a dozen! 10th HH scout group are thriving, we have some amazing young people and some BRILLIANT leaders.
We are so wonderfully fortunate to have several great scouting groups (1st HH, 5th HH, 10th HH and all our friends in burgess hill and beyond). The redwood centre is the HQ to all of them, we have sessions supporting young people from all over the county - it's a treasure. It's also the HOME for 10th Haywards Heath, my scout group. Please please protect it. Please protect my scouts.
