The Redwood Centre and 10th Haywards Heath Beavers, Cubs and Scouts

As well as Clair Hall, we should also consider 'The Redwood Centre' which, amongst serving other important groups, is both the base for 10th Haywards Heath Beavers, Cubs and Scouts and also the Headquarters for Mid Sussex District Scouts.

The Redwood Centre is the base from which the local community is served - providing fun, adventure and skills training to 120 young people each week.

In addition, it’s the HQ for Mid Sussex District Scouts and provides a vital events, training and education facility for volunteers across the District and wider County, as well as a venue for AGMs; quiz nights; presentations; fundraising events; Scout competitions; hike and expedition training and much more.

It’s also houses a nursery 7am-6pm; a church on Sundays and is available for private hire. It is operating at near capacity and is a successful, multi-use facility and valuable community resource.

In short, The Redwood Centre is a thriving community hub, often in use seven days a week, helping to make a real difference to young people and their families not just in Haywards Heath, but across Mid Sussex.

Removing this centre from the community would be a travesty and so it MUST be kept.

Clair Hall itself, along with the Redwood Centre, is obviously looking dated. This is the PERFECT OPPORTUNITY to rebuild or renovate the site to give the inhabitants of Haywards Heath something to be proud of, and to give the next generation a modern, clean, safe and enjoyable site in which to carry out activities associated with clubs, associations, etc.

The bar could be modernised, along with the kitchens, to provide a social place for all ages to gather during the day and in the evenings...bringing in revenue.

In short, i believe the site MUST be saved for the community, and should certainly be modernised or rebuilt.
